Have you ever thought about the difference between self-care and self-love?

Usually, we confuse the two. We think self-love looks like snuggling under the covers with a good book, taking a bubble bath, putting on a face mask. That is self-care.

Selflove is a dynamic concept that can take a lifetime to perfect, requiring continuous practice. Be nice to yourself and persevere. Self-love allows you to reach a new level of security and happiness.

Self-love is a state of appreciation for yourself.  It grows from actions that support our physical, psychological and spiritual growth. Regard for one’s own well-being means having a high regard for your own happiness. Appreciating yourself means taking care of your own needs and not sacrificing your well-being to please others. Self-love means not settling for less than you deserve.

Self-love can mean something different for each person because we all have many different ways to take care of ourselves. Figuring out what self-love looks like for you as an individual is an important part of your mental health.

Being kind to yourself lowers anxiety and stress, and helps build self-esteem and resilience.
