Have a friend – be a friend.

Friendship is the zest of life. Good friends bring laughter, joy to daily activities and support you during hard times. We all need someone we can count on, and the only way we can have such a person is to be someone they can count on, too.

Most acquaintances come and go. We move on, they move on, when we no longer have something in common. But in true, lasting friendship, there’s a mutual admiration and kinship. There’s a bond that goes beyond the temporary.

When you’re contemplating the reasons why life is worth living, you can put your long-lasting friendships at the top of your list. We all need a best friend we can count on.

I love having the kind of friendships that last over the years–the kind of friends with whom you can have a cup of coffee or just pick up the phone and have a chat, whether it’s been a day or six months since you last talked.

Spending time with good friends brings a richness to our lives, but all too often we get busy and neglect those connections.

Remember the golden rule of friendship, ‘We are all in this together’. Boyfriends and girlfriends change but friends do not. They are meant to stay, if not in our lives then certainly in our hearts forever. Friendship never dies. Soulmates can even be found in every friendship.

On the rainiest of days, your friend is your umbrella.
