Diversification is your first line of defence
Reach your audience by marketing through social media. It’s an effective way to connect and communicate with their audience. However, savvy writers know they should diversify their efforts here as well. It’s rarely good to put all your eggs in one basket, whether it’s related to freelancing, platform building, or writing.
Many writers have multiple social media accounts, including profiles with Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Goodreads, TikTok, Reddit, and more. But really smart writers will also think beyond social media and create email newsletters and attend live events, whether that’s a writing conference, book convention, or even bookstore signings. Let’s say you’re just starting to get your feet wet in the marketing arena.
Everyone makes mistakes but that’s oaky because each mistake is a great learning opportunity.
One mistake I have seen in marketing is investing small amounts in a variety of sources. Time is Money! If you spread yourself and your dollars too thin, it could be a waste. Make a decision what is right for your business. Determine where your target audience is, and invest in something that will put your brand in front of them effectively. If you put your money into THE BEST option basket, it should pay off. When you start to gain more funds, disperse accordingly.
